Not the Hotel Cali guys. Anyone listen to the surf band The Eagles? I got 2 songs of a comp, and I need more. If anyone knows anythign about these guys, I'm all ears. Do they have any albums left in print? The 2 songs I heard from them are The Desperados, and Special Agent. Both are friggin sweet.

Stigger, the Eagles are indeed cool, but they're not a surf band. They were a sixties British Euro-instro band - no reverb or Fender amps, just a lot of tape echo. There's a great comp of their stuff released on See For Miles records years ago, called "Smash Hits From the Eagles - Plus". It has 26 tracks altogeher. See if you can track it down.
BTW, though I like the Eagles, I don't think they were among the best of the UK sixties instro bands. Of course, the Shadows are a category unto themselves, but there were many other cool bands, such as the Fentones, the Dakotas, the Hunters, the Phantoms, the Outlaws, the Tornados (these last two being the infamous producer Joe Meek's creations). There were many others, but these are the big ones.
Finally, the Nebulas have been covering an Eagles track over the last couple of years, though I can't think of which one now....

I have over 20 of their songs. Pretty good, not as sophiscated as The shadows, but pretty interesting takes on their choice of songs. No reverb, heavy usage of their Binson Echorecs. I like Moonstruck, Bristol Express and a song with Sahara in the title. Anyway, I must have close to 30 of their songs in my hard drive.

Then there's also a more recent release on Sequel but it's out of print as well. Altogether 30 tracks from the Eagles including some vocals which might be what differs the two releases.

All these sound interesting. I didn't know about the Eagles myself.

yeah, i see they are an Instro band now, not a surf band. its funny how many good instro bands get clumped into Surf Comps. Personally it makes very little difference to me, its good to see good instros and surf music all togther like the brady bunch, one big happy family.

I agree, but instrumental can go off in wild tangents. Generally, I believe that instrumental bands get clumped into the surf genre because they either do a surf tune cover or perform using surf inspired elements.

does anyone have these albums featuring the eagles? I have been trying to track them down for some time and only managed to get about 6 songs off various comps.
