The g on my acoustic is flatwound. The set I am using is Thomastik Plectrum .12. The .11 set has the E, D, A, and G flatwound. Very interesting. I haven't played the .11s but I'd be curious to see how they sounded. Theses are my favorite acoustic strings. I don't know how Thomastik does it but I love how low the tension/floppiness is on the strings. Less stress on the acoustic itself.

Flats on an acoustic? First the locking tuners on a Jaguar and now this!! Very Happy

Ha! I had no idea until I looked into buying more sets because I knew those were on my acoustic. I'm actually shocked at how nice and bright the flatwound g sounds. I'm glad the e, a, and d are roundwound though.

And these strings don't taste so bad, compared to other strings I've played.

I used Thomastiks when Id just started out on guitar, some special low tension set supposedly designed for guitars without a trussrod, on recommendation of my guitarteacher. he was very much into picking and blues, yet all his students started out (obviously) on nylon string guitars, so after a while he'd reccomend these thomastiks.
I dont see them anymore on the website, these were steel flatwounds for accoustic.

are these on your new Martin?

Yep, they are on the Martin. This set really reinforces my love for Thomastiks.

When I was looking for Thomastik acoustic strings I only found two different sets. The set I have called Plectrums and some other set.
