SUPER SURFIN" SATURDAY
WITH - LOS STRAITJACKETS AT 6 PM
STARRING GUITAR LEGEND - DICK DALE AT 8 PM
Saturday, August 5th at 6:00 pm
All Tickets $34.95
Ticket Price does not include tax or city parks fee.

August 5 the Festival rides the wave of SUPER SURFIN' SATURDAY. At 6
PM,
LOS STRAITJACKETS serves up an original version of energetic surf
guitar
twang complete with Mexican wrestling masks! With regular appearances
on
Late Night with Conan O'Brien and touring with everyone from Tom Petty
and
the Heartbreakers to the Reverend Horton Heat and Link Wray over the
past
10 years, this fun-loving, quirky and talented band has garnered loyal
fans world-wide.

At 8 PM, Grammy nominated guitar legend DICK DALE will show why he was
given the title of "King of the Surf Guitar" by his fellow surfers in
the
50s and 60s with whom he surfed from sun-up to sun-down. As an inductee
into the Surfing Hall of Fame, he walked the walk, and when he wasn't
surfing, he was inventing a new genre of rock music. Guitar and
amplifier
guru Leo Fender kept giving the young Dale amps and he kept blowing
them
up! Dale explained that he wanted to create the sound of Gene Krupa the
famous jazz drummer who created the sounds of the native dancers in the
jungles along with the roar of the ocean.

Fender also asked Dale to play his new creation, the Fender
Stratocaster
Electric Guitar then watched in disbelief as Dale played the right
handed
guitar upside down and backwards - he was playing it left handed and
changing the chords in his head then transposing the chords to his
hands
to create a sound never heard before. In 1981 he was named Guitarist of
the Year by Guitar Magazine and in 1994 his Platinum Record "Miserlou"
became the title song for the blockbuster movie "Pulp Fiction." He
continues to reinvent himself and push the limits sharing the stage
with
fellow players of all generations including a recent collaboration with
the Black-Eyed Peas. He performs with his son Jimmy, a teenage guitar
prodigy in his own right. All tickets are $34.95. Gates will open at
4:30PM
