Just took delivery of a used Guild Surf liner Deluxe and it's pretty darn fab. However, the vibrato/trem bar didn't come along for the ride. I am skeptical that this wrong will be righted. I went looking for a replacement but came up bupkis. So far, zero response from Guild.
Does anybody have knowledge of these bars and/or any worthy aftermarket alternative? Even a resource would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance, mj

I don’t think that there’s a drop in replacement. However, a little work with a file to smooth the end of the bent piece, circled below, might help.

I've only seen one of these guitars for a few minutes, but I think it uses the Fender Japanese metric trem arm. Same arm as a Squier arm.

So, follow up so far. I ordered the Fender vibrato arm as suggested above. Two items. 1. It is not a slam dunk replacement. 2. As a drop in temporary substitute, it plays pretty well! I am fairly certain that after a few months things might get a little roughshod. Still, it should get you through the weekend just fine.
Additionally, I finally got through to Yamaha/Guild online. After some digital hoops, they sent me an email saying they would be mailing me one. Stay tuned.

Sounds like a solution. If there is any roughness to the trem’ action, give my little file trick a try.

What doesn't seem right with the arm you got? as I recall, the Guild trem has a nylon sleeve and a set screw so you can adjust the tension of the arm from locked to loose. no idea how that nylon sleeve is secured if at all.

It's the wrong dimensions. I just literally drop it in. But it goes deep enough it functions pretty well. I think I'm about to receive a real one in the coming days.

I think the trem on these guitars looks cool, but I do wonder why they didn't go with the standard offset trem screw pattern to take advantage of a robust aftermarket. Still look like fun guitars. The only ones I've seen locally so far have been the hard tail ones, which I'm not really interested in.

Apparently they wanted to capture the classic Guild tailpiece shape, but I agree that they would have been better off with the standard shape. That having been said, if they copied Leo’s original design, that is a very simple, yet very effective mechanism, so it should work well.
Cleaning up the friction point, as I suggested in an earlier post can yield very smooth action, so the OEM Guild tailpiece might be fine. I’ve even had to clean up a Fender US Offset tailpiece, so that roughness can be a problem, but it’s just a matter of cleaning up the plating.
The nylon sleeve and set screw are a major improvement, which should be worthwhile to retain. If not, I suspect that either the metric or Imperial thread StayTrem collet would most likely fit.

I'm just gonna say I'm currently riding without the wiggle stick (unusual for me) and enjoying the heck out of this guitar...with or without amplifier.

OK. Yamaha came through. It's a scary perfect fit. If you've every driven a Mercedes Benz, kinda like that.

I’ve always loved the sound of closing the door of a Mercedes. Even ‘60s Mercedes were exceptionally good.
