Yo surfers. Got the compact deluxe and it’s a damned dream machine. The trem was a big surprise, so damned good.
I’m keen to try out some external spring pans with rca outs - any recommendations? Doesn’t have to specifically be surfy, drippy - just inspiring. Let me know!

There are a couple of Surfy Pan options, depending upon which decay profile you want. An 18” pan would give you a different character. IMHO, the Compact Deluxe is the best idea I’ve seen for reverb. Two presets so you can have two levels of reverb without having to touch the board. Couple that with a footswitch to select between two different pans, some great sounding tremolo and there’s a lot to like.

You can try the MOD equivalent of 4AB3C1B. It has a quite darker reverb tone compared to the Surfy Pans and Accutronics, I think it is more scooped in the mids. Surprisingly, I found the drip to be more pronounced than the Surfy Pans, maybe because of the scooped tone of the reverb, or maybe it colors the highs differently. For sure you will get a different sound compared to the Surfy Pan.

I like dark. I’m not looking for more drip but rather more dwell and vibe. Dark is my zone. Do ya have a link I could reference for this mod? Something with a buy button ?

It depends where you live, if you live in Europe you can buy it for example from Tube Town (Germany), but if you live in the US you should find a local dealer there so that you don't pay a fortune in shipping...
However, before buying you should first listen with your own ears, there are several videos at Youtube comparing different tanks so that you can choose from. If you like a darker sound maybe you can also experiment with the tone control with your current pan to see what you get.

If you want deep, dark, and cavernous a MOD 17" two spring pan with medium decay is the way to go. MOD pans are also pretty well made.
