Permalink Trouble finding Torquay cover…

New Topic

I’ve been looking everywhere for a specific cover of “Torquay” by The Fireballs , I believe by a 1st wave group…

The lead guitar is over-drenched in delicious reverb and the rhythm section is really pounding….its a version of the song I just love and would really like to hear it again…

does this ring any bells with anyone?

Thanks! Cool

I took a dive to find but nothing. But thanks for the hunt since this version was cool with the tempo plus fuzz around the 1 minute mark.

The Country Swingers - Torquay - Owl Records OH (Surf Style Instro w/ Fuzz)

Are you talking about the Flat Duo Jets version? If so, it's on Spotify this link might work- Torquay Flat Duo Jets

The Challengers on their Surfbeat LP?

For those with a copy of my surf music discography, the Index would point you to these:

Besides The Challengers, two others that don't appear to be on YouTube, by The Torques (LP track) and The Torquays (1st wave band, not the more recent, Orange County band).

Torquay is fairly tame. Are we sure it's the song? I get it and this mixed up fairly often. The Lively Ones doing a great Fireballs cover of Rik-a-Tik

It matches the OP's description better - But I might be wrong.

Also, today 2/11/25 pic of the day is the Lively Ones drummer Tim Fitzpatrick standing on his drums.
