Selling my Baum Backwing in excellent condition with a Baum hardshell case, COA and case candy.
Picked this up to see what all the hype was about, and it did not disappoint! If you’re looking for a guitar that puts its own unique take on the Gibson Firebird body style, this is the one.
Playability is excellent. The fretwork is nicely done, and the neck profile and finish on these is incredible! A natural, satin finish that is extremely smooth with a very comfortable C shape. I really like having the Gibson-style stop tail on a 25.5” scale length. The whole package comes together to make a really great guitar.
Tone is fantastic, as well. The mini humbuckers are nice and crunchy but still retain a lot of clarity. They’re not super hot so they sound great clean or overdriven and hold up well under distortion, too.
For me, the biggest surprise with this guitar was how resonant the body is. Baum makes them just slightly thinner than a standard, solid body depth, but the guitar is very loud acoustically and resonates very musically on its own. Way more resonant than any Gibson or Fender I’ve got my hands on in the last year, and this guitar stacked up nicely against a couple boutique offerings that are known for lightweight, resonant bodies.
The guitar and case are both in excellent condition. Guitar still has the plastic on the pickguard and has been lightly played. This one was also made in Korea (hence the quality) whereas I believe current Backwings are made in Indonesia.
Only reason I’m selling is because no matter how often I try, if I’m being honest, I just play better on the shorter Gibson scale length. I also need an acoustic for an upcoming project and could use the cash.
Current orders for a new Backwing w/ case and shipping will set you back nearly $2200 and they don’t ship until June. Save yourself some time and money and pick mine up for $1100 shipped!
