Permalink Surf Music on Hoopla

New Topic

I was browsing the Hoopla library app and was astonished to see the wide selection of surf music and surf music-related material available for digital borrowing. Many of the original surf albums are on there, as well as modern stuff by bands such as Los Straitjackets, the Surfajettes and lots from the Hi-Tide catalog. I don't have a premium Spotify account, so I will likely use Hoopla to listen to music without ads. I'm currently reading John Blair's book from Arcadia Publishing on Southern California surf bands in the early 60s that I borrowed and have my eye on a Ventures documentary that looks interesting. Hoopla is one of the main digital library apps, so it might be worth checking to see if your local library offers it and what is included in their subscription.

"We're lousy, we can't play. If you wait until you can play, you'll be too old to get up there. We stink, really. But it's great," Johnny Ramone .

Oh cool! That's a great tip, thanks! I never thought to look for surf, and surf related music on Hoopla. Both that and Kanopy are excellent options for people with library cards. So use 'em if you got 'em, they're there for all of us.
