Permalink Speaker to pair with Quilter Superblock US.

Hi all. I do a lot more lurking here than posting. I’m looking for some speaker choice advice.

I have the superblock us that I use with a surfy bear metal. I’ve been using a friend’s cab with a celestian greenback for now.

I’m building a couple cabs based on some Fenders. I building a 12” cab based on the delux reverb dimensions. I’m also building a 10” cab based on the princeton reverb dimensions.

For the 12”, I found a good deal on a used Jensen C12N and plan to use that.

I was planning on using a C10R that comes in the princeton reverbs but it is only rated for 25watts.

I’m kinda new at the head/cab thing. I’m trying to get close to the sparkly clean chime I hear from a princeton. Will I be fine sticking with the C10R? Or is there a 10” with a higher watt rating that’ll achieve similar sounds?

In my research I’m reading it’s standard to use a speaker rated for 2x’s the amp heads watts which is why I’m hesitant to use the c10r.

Any suggestions?

I play a lot of surf (seems obvious here) but I’m new and I like to learn to play a bit of everything.

Weber speakers are always good - for 10" you could go for the 10F150nor 10F150T - they are available in 50W versions so you won't blow them with the Quilter.

I have a Warehouse 10” that was used in a small cabinet build that I use with the US Superblock. It sounds great at home or small venues. In larger performance spaces I run it direct into the house sound system.

I have a cab with Celestion V30 and pretty happy with it. Cannot compare with Princeton but it’s clear and sparkling

WGS G10C/S for SuperBlock. Meets all the criteria and sounds great.

I want to hear Caravan with a drum solo.

Thanks for the suggestions. I ended up finding a pretty good deal on Jenson 25r fairly soon after starting this thread but the suggestion that seems to come up the most is the WGS G10C. I’ve got it in my personal gas wish list for when I’m ready to upgrade my 10” cab. Hopefully the 25w Jenson will fine enough for a while. I don’t get to play super loud very often so I’m not sure I’ll get to push it very hard very much.

Thanks for the suggestions. I’ll post my cab builds when I’m finished. I have the boxes built and sanded. Just waiting for some Tolex and hardware to arrive.
