I've written lyrics to all the surf classics.......should i post 'em? "Penetration" came out kinda dirty.....and this is a family site but.....it also took me several days to write lyrics to LSJ's "Hornets Nest" (pun intended). Some of them are kinda Weird Al-ish and don't ryme all that well, but nowadays you don't have to ryme all that much. Lord, i don't know why i write this crap. Maybe there's medicine for it. I'll talk to my Doc.

There's some - some - really good vocal surf music out there.

I mean like the Trashmen, Crossfires, Trashmen, Beach Boys, Trashmen, Volcanics, "Jessie Pearl," "You Better Tell Me Right Now," the Mark Four's "Swingin' Hangout," Trashmen etc.
FWIW, "Let's Go to the Beach" is a cover.

Jake:
"New York's a Lonely Town" by the Tradewinds comes to mind. Neat piece of confection.

Davie Allan once told me he sang backup vocals on some of the Hondells sessions (never played guitar on them though).
Interesting, I've heard that Allan played guitar on the Hondells tracks that were provided by Mike Curb.

The R&R HOF is just a glass building in Cleveland that holds a lot of great guitars gathering dust. And Jann Wenner is a weiner.
Long live rock.

Congratulations to THE VENTURES! Instrumental Rock recognition! Yeah, its about hight time, eh?
Several great vintage Ventures video on YT. (Thank god they haven't removed it (yet?)).
My band, The Aquamarines, enjoy performing Ventures tunes, such as Slaughter on Tenth Avenue.
One of my personal favorite cuts is their version of Besame Mucho found on the LIVE in Japan '65 Album.
Some bands named after The Ventures inspiration: Diamondheads, 9th Wave, Ramonatures. Some inspired covers, many of which found on Swingin' Creepers tribute CD on Musick from 1999, include Journey To The Stars (Space Cossacks), Mariner 4 (The Penetrators), Lullaby of the Leaves (Davie Allan) and The Twomp (Fortune & Maltese).
Not to mention The Ventures have covered many popular theme songs in their marvelous career.
Play guitar with The Ventures!
