Not a big fan of the RnR H.O.F. induction process but it would be cool if they make it in.

scrolling through the comments, it's interesting to note only positive remarks about the Ventures. They certainly deserve to get in.

"It starts... when it begins" -- Ralf Kilauea

There has been a petition going around to get them in. I signed it back in about 2002. The number one selling instrumental band ever!

I'm probably more excited for the Leonard Cohen induction. Personally instrumental music holds a different place in my heart and mind than lyrical music and I don't allow the two to mix all that often.

Off Topic Yep, that's a big one as well. Just bought my wife two of his books. Great writer.

It's pretty messed up though that the Ventures are considered before Link Wray?

I agree that its pretty much a joke. I can name hundreds of bands/people that I think should be in there that aren't.

I have a pretty dim view of the HOF...I mean seriously, Billy Joel is in there...so is Michael Jackson...but as skeeter pointed out Link Wray isn't. What is wrong with this picture?

Link Wray should have written Thriller?

It should really be named the Pop Music Hall of Fame. I probably have a more conservative opinion than most, but to me Rock and Roll and Rock music are 2 different things and there seem to be a huge number of nominees and members that wouldn't qualify as either.

Nuff said.

That was excessively violent and completely unnecessary. I loved it.

No, he should have recorded "Hidden Charms" as a duet with Billy Joel, backed my members of Toto and Air Supply.

I'm imagining Billy Joel doing the "pow", "biff", "ow" lines in Batman.

Leonard Cohen is Rock????

young grass hopper you must let go your love of vocals and let them fly away with the wind.
they will only cloud your mind with unclean thought.

I consider instrumental music to be part of my love of classical music. I don't really lump it with vocal music. While surf is more rock and roll than Leonard and other similar artists, surf lacks lyrics and therefore affects me in a different way. That is why I care more about Leonard than the Ventures.
