Last night at the Dick Dale show I couldn't help but overhear someone explaining the mechanics of surf guitar to his less enlightened friends.
the guy sitting in front of me
It's just speed twang. Just think country music with jazz solos played really really fast. That's surf music.
Any thoughts?

In general, you overhear the weirdest things at a DD show. I heard the following at the DD shows I went to:
"Dude, I saw the Bomboras in L.A., and there were so many fights there were teeth in the parking lot"
"Dude, Dick Dale is really loud. Tear off the label on your beer bottle, wad it up, and stick it in your ears"
"Dude, that drummer is DD's son" (referring to Dusty Watson...)

to put that clearer he called sammy scotty throughout the entire show, i dont know why. from what shuan said, it sounds like he just misunderstood the name, which isnt the case.
