Good question. My first one was "Pulp Surfin'" which is some kind of unofficial compilation, but it really got me into surf music. The most obscure are probably 'Gulag Tunes' CD and 'Riding the Snowy Wave' compilation of Russian surf bands. One of the latest big finds is 'Phantom Guitars', a compilation of early British guitar instrumentals. Not Surf, but some great Jazz guitar: Jim Hall’s Commitment. I bought this, originally, on vinyl, when it was a new release. Years later, I found a copy on CD, from a seller in Japan and paid a hefty price to have it shipped here. —The artist formerly known as: Synchro When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar. |

Now the record is easy to get, but for a long time the 'evil à go-go by Fifty Foot combo' lp was pretty hard to get. A nice release. And I have good memories of that time seeing them play live, that stuff, along with the 'go hunting' material. Top notch, musical and performance. Pretty wild and entertaining gigs.
