Question

"Turn the knob to 10 and break it off!" -Baja Marty

Question
So I looked them up and they are Surf Punk Disco Panzer from "United Kingdom". I didn't know they could get flip flops over there. They describe themselves as "Dick Dale meets The Cramps in the graveyard. ish". Tena, how ever did you find this?

I just did a Satan's Pilgrims search on YouTube to see if anything new came up.

After I found the band, I checked My Space. I found their profile and remember seeing it. I think they may even be on my "friend" list.

I think it would be funny if Dick Dale really met the Cramps in a graveyard. Razz

Hi there fellow Pilgrims fans Cool

Stan Diego from "Surf Punk Disco Panzer" here.....we've just put another vid up on Youtube. A Horror Double Bill consisting of a newer version of "Haunted house of Rock" together with a version of Goo Goo Muck (which we've only practised about twice so far).

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ToJ5tdwJgIY

Any fellow UK Pilgrim's fans here....they seem to be pretty thin on the ground!

Stan D.

Hey Stan,
As always, we are flattered to be covered. We are also flattered to have been covered by bands around the world (bands in Mexico and Denmark come to mind). It's also interesting that often these bands have more "modern" instrumentation or sounds such as your electronic drum kit. We've also been sampled by a techno band from Mexico.
While we have a 1960s-centric approach to our music we also like that we can bridge to some more 21st century sounds.
BTW, looks like you got some other (new?) guitars. Mosrite and a Burns?
There is a fan from Ireland on here that I'm still trying to get a t-shirt to. Very Happy
Thanks for keeping our name alive in the UK!
Ted Pilgrim
PS Where specifically do you hail from?

Hey Ted,

We've been Pilgrims fans for years....in fact Dan Francisco and I used to do a lot of electronic stuff under the name of Morbius and we covered one of your tracks "Shit Sandwich" on our first album back in 1998 (which we mistakenly marked up as "Pilgrim Stomp" Doh!!) don't worry we didn't sell many so we probably owe you about £2.50.

If you want to hear it then you can download it for free from here (along with a cover of The Cramps "Garbageman" we did around the same time):

http://www.synthpunkdiscopanzer.co.uk/store/

We did the electronic stuff for about 12 or 13 years but we always had a great love for Surf and Rock and Roll Instro's so we formed this band a few months ago. Stan D. (that's me) on Guitar, Dan Francisco on Guitar and Vocals, Les Vegas on Drums (the reason they are electronic is so that he can practice in his flat with his headphones on!!) and Lou Orleans on Bass.

The Pilgrims were (are) a huge influence on us......so don't be surprised if another cover pops up at some point Smile

Glad you guys got back together again, just a shame we're stuck here in the UK. Not many Surf/Instro bands make it over here. You guy's are top of the list if you ever do make it over here though (next in line would be The Ghastly One's and Deadbolt),

Well spotted on the Guitar front, our current list reads like this:

Stan D.
Gretsch 6119 Tennessee Rose
Fender '52 Telecaster
Eastwood Sidejack DLX (The Mosrite Clone)
Vintage Icon V100 (Peter Green Model)

Dan F.
Fender 'Big Block' Strat
Burns Shadow Special Edition
Epiphone Lucille

We are from the county of Norfolk, in or around a town called King's Lynn on the East Coast.
Oh and did I hear you mention something about a T-Shirt Wink

Stan D.

PS: Any new recordings due from The Pilgrims??

I think I remember that Morbius thing. That sounds familiar. We'd love to get over there and when we went to the Continent in the 90s we always tried to get gigs in the UK, but the interest was even less than it is now. It seems like it is picking up a little.
We're always thinking about our next record, its just making it happen that is the hard part. Playing live pays for itself and the cost of getting me to the same place as the other guys. Getting to Portland and recording (along with the time off required) is a differeent story, but we'll hopefully figure it out.
For t-shirts, dvds etc check our new website www.satans-pilgrims.com.
PM or email me through the site to check size and availability-we also have some leftovers in other designs.

Hi all! Dan Francisco from SPDP ch ch checking in! We only found this site through Google links you know, and now we are chatting with Satan's Pilgrims! Small world eh!
btw, for any of you visiting the UK over the next few months, I thought id let you know that Flip Flops are readily available in a variety of sizes. Rolling Eyes Though in my house, we call them 'Man Flops'. Very Happy

@Stan, that guitar list needs amending bud, The Epiphone has gone, to be replaced by a lovely new Tele.

Man, we just learned that very song last night during band practice! I guess you have to expect other bands to cover the same songs, when it's a band of Satan's Pilgrims caliber your trying to cover!

lol, we chose 'Haunted House of Rock' because its easy! (and fantastic).
We have a fomula for our cover versions, 'Easy=Good/Tricky=bad'. Wink

It works for us! Rolling Eyes
