I filmed this last july in Madrid (Spain). The bass player is
pretty silly and plays really bad, but she is soooo hoooooooot!!!

Enjoy!

nice. good to see them with a drummer too, I saw them a year or so ago , and it was just the two string people with a drumcomputer. huge disappointment I might add, though the guy is a good player, and they come across like very cool people. it's just the drumcomputer that sucked all the fun out Cry

the treble spankers played The Model first I think, I bet the MC took it form there, they play popcorn as well which was also done by the treble spankers.

I used to play The Model as a surf song for years. It lends itself well to the form. I used to really dig Snakefinger's version of it. One day, back in the 1990s, I realized that the tune itself was just not that interesting. So I stopped playing it. (But for Kraftwerk it worked perfectly, they had that sort of "flat" sound.) I didn't know anyone else covered it. I will have to see how it differs from the way we used to do it.

Messer Chups are really something, though, aren't they?

we do the model from time to time - this version has a few more surf guitar "tricks of the trade" in than ours. In fact ours has exactly 2:- tempo and volume...

I am in love with their bass player she is so very many times more attractive than our bass player, although oddly their hair is of similar length..... Perhaps Hugh is some kind of cross dressing vampire hottie at weekends? Surely not!

I don't care how bad a bass player she is...

DROOL!

In my humble opinion, the definitive cover of Das Model is by Tremolo Beer Gut. That being said, Zombie Girl is SO frickin hot that it doesn't matter what she plays.

THANK YOU! for bringing up Snakefinger. I used to dig Snakefinger so much back in the day, I'm now going to scour youtube and check out all his video footage.

Danny: I was a big fan of Snakefinger. Reminds me that I used to use any one of a number of Residents records to clear the hangers-on out of my house parties back in the day. Eskimo worked like a charm at 4 AM.

I remember seeing and being just blown away by Snakefinger and The Vestal Virgins at a small industrial art space.

Here is a full concert video from the same tour I saw, right down the road from you. Maybe you were there!

Then I learned that he had passed away suddenly shortly after. What a shame because he was starting to get really good and I think his collaboration with Eric Drew Feldman really helped his sound. (Veering ever more off-topic but I have similar thoughts about Frank Black and suddenly wonder what happened to Eric Drew Feldman?) Anyhow, later I got some of his tunes on CD and still put them on once in awhile. My wife hates it.

Off Topic bizarre 80's bands.

Thanks LHR, I remember hearing about that show after the fact, learning about the Residents and Snakefinger a couple years after. I was friends with the Eskimo guys, having seen them numerous times. I also was digging the Clubfoot Orchestra at the time. My band at the time was in the same sphere of bizarre musicality. Now I've gone mainstream and play instro surf, go figure Rolling Eyes

I dunno...it gets a little weird going to a show and seeing 50 girls with the same hair, clothes and makeup. These people are more conformist than their parents!

ah Gotcha,
nobody can ever say I look like the average surf fan.

Zak: We used to call them the "McSimilars" as in, "Were you talking to Betty or Sue McSimilar?", or "The McSimilar twins are here again.".
