Hi All,
I recently acquired this bitchin’ 1961 Showman on eBay… let me tell you this, what it lacks in looks it more than makes up with in the tone department!
Pictured with my grandpa’s homemade in the early 60’s hifi cabinet! Enjoy!

I kept seeing that head on reverb and eBay, and I am so glad it went to an awesome surf guitarist! Is the tube chart in there? Acetate might cleanly remove that black paint? —Daniel Deathtide |

Thanks! Unfortunately it has been retolexed in smooth black tolex… there’s two random holes in the front of the grill too (which has either been replaced with black or painted black). DeathTide wrote:

Oh snap! Recovered, well I guess that's technically a step up from a paint job. Are you gonna keep it as is? It's got kind of a Marshall vibe with that black grill cloth on black tolex. —Daniel Deathtide |

I think I am going to keep it as is… it’s got some serious mojo. My first idea was to have a blonde combo (single 15) cabinet made for it… but losing the ability to pair it (easily) with different cabinets would be hard. Also, I’m realizing that I really like pieces that have some unknown story - somebody maybe did them wrong. For me that makes them more unique than a perfect unused museum piece. I also recently acquired a reverb unit with some paint splashed randomly on the grill. DeathTide wrote:

I had seen this one online several times in the last month or so. You got a really great deal on it. Congratulations! —MooreLoud.com - A tribute to Dick Dale. New Singles "Finish Line" and "Paradiso" on Bandcamp and website. |
