Flying fingers. Smile

Reporting for duty, out from under my rock (#SG101isMyOnlySocialMedia)

+1 Flying fingers indeed! Great to see the coverage and support for the band & release.

Also, with apologies to Jeremy, Dane, Jonpaul, even more enjoyable was discovering that you and your dad were at it once again this past Christmas! Of course, the familiar setting for your latest Vintage Guitar piece prompted me to look for your regular channel for other videos. I didn't want to ask, and up to now didn't even want to go looking honestly. (File under: 'don't ask the question you don't want to know the answer to'). I had been wondering if that was something you were able to do anymore. Those Shadows tunes video's with your dad have always been a cherished highlight of the holiday season; so heartwarming and most enjoyable to see that you are both still at it, and just as great as ever!

...and now back to our regularly scheduled programming already in progress.

Congrats on the VG article!
I haven't subscribed or read VG for a few years now but I'm going to find a copy of this for sure.
Well deserved and the new music is fantastic!

Oh wow! Thank you all SO VERY MUCH for all your kind comments, and very glad that you're enjoying the video so much! It's a huge thrill for me to be featured in the Vintage Guitar magazine like this, just never really thought that was something that would be possible! I hope I'm also representing our little community well, and hopefully making more people aware of its existence. Here's hoping there are some folks out there than end up discovering it and becoming fans!

Thank you all again! (Fady, I'll reply in the other thread about my dad's and my videos, but special thanks to you for that!)

Ivan,

Man does time fly. I remember my first ever Surf/Instro show, where I saw the Space Cossacks and the Fathoms at the Twist and Shout. I left there 'knowing' (at least that's how I felt) I'd just seen the two best surf bands anywhere. And yes, I have the video made by Musick Recordings so I can relive that show.

I remember as well when I saw the Space Cossacks right after y'all returned from a California tour. Your first tour I believe. I could not believe how tight the band was. Everybody was on it.

Then I remember seeing a show in Baltimore including the Space Cossacks and the Penetrators (RIP Rip & Spanky, wish you were here to participate in what is happening in the genre now). Band members were watching the performing band, apparently trying to catch mistakes made. I never saw or heard any.

Ivan, as far as I'm concerned you are one of the leaders of surf music these days. It amazes me to watch you play now. New fans are just now discovering the Space Cossacks and from what I can tell are loving it, just as I did way back when. Thank you and your band mates so much for all the great memories.

Congratulations sir.

Hey Woody! So good to hear from you again! And thanks for bringing up all those WONDERFUL memories! I think you nailed it all, including in particular the show after we returned from the '98 summer west coast tour - I do think we were at our very peak as a live band at that point, after playing live every night for two weeks straight. Fortunately that was captured on the Live Supernova CD, which is so enjoyable for me to hear even after all these many years. And then, of course, there's all the amazing shows, EVERY ONE of them truly special, with the Penetrators that we were so lucky to play from '96 until '98, so so much fun. I'm really glad you were to be part of all that and experience it in person, and that it left such an impression on you.

Thank you also for your lovely compliment, but I really don't think it's true. Longevity doesn't mean leadership! Big Grin I just refuse to go away, like a bad penny I just keep turning up - I'm sure there are many that are ready to see the back of me! But, hey, sorry, not quite yet! Laughing

BTW, speaking of the Penetrators, this pic popped up on Facebook a few weeks ago after popping up here as the photo of the day, so since you brought them up, I thought I'd share it here, too: The Space Penetrators!! Playing with Spanky Twangler, Sticks Stechkin AKA Elliott Dangar (obscured), Mark English, and Catherine Gray. At The Chukker, Tuscaloosa, AL, September 27, 1996 - 27 years ago! —

(Thought I'd post in this thread, too, hope nobody minds!)

I just uploaded to YouTube the full video I shot on December 10th playing Lords of Atlantis tracks at the request of the Vintage Guitar magazine. They ended up using just the part of me playing Barbary Corsairs, so here's the whole thing, five tracks in total, in case you have any interest in seeing it (the link to the video in the comments).

The tracks are:
1. Barbary Corsairs
2. Maroc 7
3. Eye of the Sahara
4. Chariots of the Gods
5. Temple of Poseidon

I'm using a Catalinbread Belle Epoch echo pedal, Gomez G-Spring reverb unit, and a Deluxe Reverb reissue amp. Enjoy!
