Jazzmaster pickup height wont adjust

Hi all, I have a Jazzmaster and the treble side of the pickup won't really raise up after a certain point, the screw just comes out (see pic). There is some good strong foam underneath, and I even tried to add more thick weatherstripping foam (see pic below) underneath it, but it didn't help, as it just compresses and flattens quickly. Anyone know how to fix this?

Yeah, something is either holding the pickup cover down, like the pickguard being too tight, or there still isn’t enough force from the foam coming from underneath. I’d undo all the screws and carefully remove the pickup again to see if the pickguard is rubbing against it and if not, just add more foam maybe even just on the treble side, if necessary. |

I just had this issue with a TVL Jazzmaster. It needed more foam. I'm a little surprised since it is pretty new, but maybe saving that .003 cents and the 9 seconds of labor is how Fender stays in business. I had a piece of stiff foam sitting around, not sure what it was from, but it was a lot wider than the weatherstripping you show. |
