I've got a pair of Eminence Swamp Thangs in my Avatar 2x12 cab I use with my Quilter Mach 3 head. It sounds awesome, but that thing is a tank. I'm not getting any younger and dragging it around sucks a little bit.
Pondering getting some lighter speakers, like the Celestion Copperbacks maybe? I definitely want to cover the full 200w of my Quilter amp, so I will only use 100w speakers in there.
Any suggestions? The Swamp Thangs sound awesome in my surf band, but they also sound great when I'm playing gainier rock and punk stuff on the side. Any experience with those Copperbacks or something similar?

I've been gigging a 12" Jensen Tornado Stealth 100w 8ohm in a 1x12 cab and loving it with the SD Powerstage 170 pedalboard amp. Sweet rig thats saving my back.

Weber NeoMag 12 is an excellent and very light weight speaker.

Last month I installed the third speaker in my Quilter Blockdock. After a year I replaced the original 300 watt Celestion whatever-the-heck neodymium speaker which was technically a bass speaker. It’s a great speaker for woody jazz tones and super heavy stuff but never quite right for me. I replaced it with an Eminence EM12N. That’s the ultra pure kind of EV type speaker, 200 watts, loud clear and light. A very good speaker indeed. At the time I raved about it somewhere on this forum, but after a while I found it a bit shrill for my taste. Finally I have found what I’ve been looking for in the Eminence 1812. It’s an eminence style speaker with a slight British scoop. It is 150 watts. For a long time I felt like I needed a full 200 watt speaker for my Quilter Toneblock but after playing that rig for two years at countless gigs, often outdoors I realized that at no point has the power knob been turned up anywhere near 200 watts. I doubt I turn it past 45 watts and my amp is plenty loud. The Eminence 1218 is a great speaker that I rarely see any mention of (especially considering relative narrowing of guitar speaker options in the 100+ watt category). It might not be worth mentioning to Skiltrip as it is only a few pounds lighter than the Swamp Thang but man what a great speaker!
I have also been curious about the Copperback but was afraid to go Celestion. At the same time seeing them described as a “Celestion that is not a Celestion” gave me pause because I didn’t want to end up with the Celestion version of the EM12N.

I checked in with Eminence on this and they recommended the Lil Texas, 120w speakers. A pair in a 2x12 could cover the full wattage of the Aviator Mach 3. It's hard to part with the Swamp Thangs though. I absolutely love the tone I'm getting and would be hesitant to mess with it. But a MUCH lighter 2x12 sounds wonderful to me.

I know there are a lot of people on the Quilter page that don't like the Copperback. That said, I changed out a 1x12 cabinet to a Copperback, and I love it. The weight relief is unbelievable, and the sound of the speaker sounds great to me, once it was broken in.
