Permalink Brian Setzer The Palace Theatre - PA (Shallow End)

We took the 4 hour drive into the Mountains of Pennsylvania and enjoyed a great show, Brian Setzer's Rockabilly Riot, on Saturday night. I know Brian isn't true surf, but he definitely plays some surf influenced riffs and had one song with a heavy surf beat, Miserlou tribute riff and vocals. I'll have to find the name of it. These were taken at a very 40s/50s venue The Palace Theatre in Greensburg, PA. One of the roadies gave me a set list.

The way he leads between different genres of lead guitar work is amazing. Below are a few pictures from the event.

For these dates, SETZER will be joined by, in his words, an “international rockabilly band, Chris D’Rozario from Melbourne, Australia and Juan Laurios from Mexico City.”

DURING THE SHOW, THE BASSIST CHRIS D'ROZARIO CLIMBED UP HIS STAND UP BASS WHILE BRIAN AND JUAN LOOK ON! VERY COOL!

That cat is a monster player!

Looks like y'all had great seats for what I am certain was an excellent show. Thumbs Up

Also looks like the closest he'll be for me is ~7 1/2 hours... tonight in Nashville. Thumbs Down

He's definitely one of my favorites. Just added video of his bass player climbing up his stand up bass

I am really jealous, one of my favorite guitar heroes. Just listening to his new album, not bad! Also see new Guitar Player magazine)

Aw, hell! Greensburg is my neck of the woods. I wish I had known he was playing there, or I would have made the trip. One of the greatest guitarists out there.

Is this something you can share with the rest of us, Amazing Larry?!?

Next time. He looks like he's ready to hit the tours again. BTW the Palace is awesome! Great sound systems, great crowd, can bring beer to your seat...

I've seen the Rockabilly riot, the Christmas show and one that came before the riot. I've enjoyed all of them but the Christmas show was fabulous. Smile

I saw him at the Cape Cod Melody Tent years ago on his Hot Rod tour.
Not a bad seat in the house with a rotating center stage.
I have always been a big fan going back to the original Stray Cats in the 80s.
He is an amazing player for sure, but an equally awesome entertainer overall.
I watch the Christmas Extravaganza every season.

Smash up on Highway One - that's a newer and cool one!

That's the surf beat tune. They played it live and I got part of it on my voice recorder, but no video. Great song with a little middle eastern riff thrown in as a nod to Dick Dale.
