Permalink RIP Jimmy Buffett

New Topic

I do understand that Buffett is not anyone's idea of surf musician, but maybe this is okay since it's the off topic section. With the passing of Gordon Lightfoot and now Jimmy Buffett, this has been a bad year for some of my favorite musicians. First it was John Prine in 2020, then Lightfoot, and now Buffett. My trifecta of heroes! Sigh, oh well, I know there are new musicians taking up the torch, but this still saddens me. I grew up on these guys, and they are leaving us at an alarming rate.

Again, no offense to those of you who hated Buffet's music. And I know there are many.

I feel your pain.
Jimmy is another great loss.
Surf music or not he had the same passion.

Jeff Beck died suddenly earlier this year as well, An inspiration to any guitarist to say the least

These are life events bookmarking history and leaving a legacy to be remembered.
RIP

He was an amazing songwriter, truly one of the best. He performed well in concerts, and gave his audiences a good show. Sorry to hear that he died.

The artist formerly known as: Synchro

When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar.

I read today that he died from a form of skin cancer. I guess that island sun caught up with him. But, as the lyrics of one of my songs goes:

"He's living his life by the minute.
With no cares or worries there in it.
He's got no regrets, how he spends his time.
He's got a good altitude, and a bottle of wine."

Remember to wear your sunscreen!

Jimmy got skin cancer 4 years ago. It morphed into lymphoma and that's what killed him. As BoneDigger said, "Remember to wear your sunscreen!"

All things considered, that's pretty good!
