WOW! What a delightful video. All those smart dressers with the beautiful hair. That was CLEARLY the earliest "pogo dancing" (the prelude to slam dancing). I love how much of the audience is shown here. So many live videos only show the performers and wide shots of the audience, but this was replete with extremely gratifying close-up shots of all those kids. One of my favorite shots was of the feet. What a great video, what a great time. Also there were two completely new parts to that song that I had not heard before! —Daniel Deathtide |

The audio isn't from the scene shown and I'm guessing all that screaming is canned. Too bad they don't have the actual sound from that show. |

Here's the history for those that care: that b&w film of DD/Deltones performing live was filmed with two 16mm cameras by Capitol Records on 22 March, 1963, at the Harmony Park Ballroom in Anaheim. It was intended to be made available nationwide to disc jockeys for TV shows and record hops. It was one way Capitol came up with to help promote their new label acquisition. The film, however, was never distributed. Here's a clip from that same film that has the original (very low quality by today's standards) soundtrack. You'll notice some edits, either not-very-professional studio editing or spliced edits. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jIajLhY7nQ —www.johnblair.us Last edited: Aug 31, 2023 13:33:03 |
