I buy from the sites that have the music I want to hear.
SoundCloud, bandcamp, Apple,, etc.
I don’t listen more than once to any music I haven’t paid for.
If I listen to music that is in links here, from members of this site. I listen once. If I like it I buy it. If it doesn’t catch me, I don’t listen again.
It’s not fare to the people that produce the music, to listen over and over for free.

As a follow-up to my above statement…
Occasionally I run across music I like but for one reason or another, I can’t buy. I do then download it. However, usually it won’t load into my Apple Music. So I’m stuck listening to it from the file I down loaded.
Last night I heard some background music on a YouTube video. This morning, I located the source and attempted to purchase it. No deal.
It is only downloadable for free to my files. Here’s the music. This irritates the hell out of me. Grrr.

I love Spotify. Haven't tried the other big ones. I have found so much great music using Spotify. I wish it didn't suck for the artists. I do buy stuff I discover on it. I have found with the niche music styles I like (surf, rockabilly, old stuff) that the streaming services are unreliable. You never know when it will get dropped.
I do frequently find that something I fall in love with on Spotify is out of print on physical media.
I'm currently starting to build a music streaming server using a Raspberry PI (if anyone has experience I could use some help). Then I can stream the music I own wherever I am

Deezer streaming service is the one I pay for, with a one-year subscription it costs less than the other streamers. I think it has the widest selection but it is tricky to navigate. I have tried many of the others. Amazon Music Unlimited requires me to logout and log in again to get it to work properly, that's annoying. Tidal was okay but more costly. Spotify discontinued several of my favorites.
As a musician Pandora is the best. It plays my recordings more and pays me more. However, royalties keep shrinking yearly and they are now negligible, probably because CD Baby quit selling physical CDs.
CD Baby is the only music service that cheated me outright. CD Baby sold me contracts on individual albums where they were obligated to offer physical CDs, sell MP3 downloads and make the recordings available to visitors for audition. They reneged on all those things without any compensation. They gave me a choice of Paying Them to return the physical CDs they had Demanded I send them or allowing these albums to be trashed. CD Baby is dishonest and dishonorable, shame on them.
Among modern streaming services Soundcloud pays absolutely nothing, it is the Salvation Army Store of streaming services. Reverbnation is worse, often sending solicitations for money and paying nothing, so Reverbnation is the Camp of Homeless among streaming services.
To listen to my own recordings as they evolve towards final versions I use Box.com. It is very easy to upload MP3s there and I can make them available to my cellphone off-line. I like box.com much.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to check out Box for music streaming my own CD rips.

So far I have enjoyed:
Storm surge of reverb
Fiberglass Jungle
John Blair's podcast (only heard it once, but it was great)
Thanks for the recommendations! I've been trying to catch Fiberglass Jungle and Storm Surge of Reverb for a bit now, but I'm used to podcasts downloading to my phone so I can listen at any time. With both of those, it seems that they broadcast at very specific times on specific days so you have to tune in live. I can respect that sort of ephemeral quality, but my schedule is anything but regular and I can never seem to catch the shows. Then again, I might be looking in the wrong places for them, but as someone who isn't necessarily a technological slouch, if they are available for on-demand listening, they certainly don't make it easy to find. Maybe that's part of what makes them good...if you want it, you gotta work for it! I'll keep an eye out for John Blair's podcast.
btw, I don't know who Lady Reverb is, but if she doesn't work professionally in radio, she probably should.
I definitely didn't catch either Storm Surge of Reverb live - the radio station keeps the most recent couple of shows on demand, so a bit of determined clicking will get you there in the end:

Fiberglass Jungle I found somewhere in the podcast section of Luxuria music. I am not sure if the dates on that website actually always match the broadcast dates. I also get a little confused...
I forgot to mention DJ Dotty, which I think I found through Instagram. She plays some good stuff.
Clint Beachwood too.

I use Youtube and Bandcamp to check things out, then if i want to hear something repeatedly, I'll buy the download from Bandcamp or Itunes.
I've never used Spotify, and never will unless they start paying artists a lot more fairly.

When at work for my desk job computer drafting, I stream Surf Instrumentals on XM Radio.
Also stream that on phone to a wireless speaker.
At home I listen to my huge CD collection on home stereo.
Every CD is ripped to computer files which I can load to my phone or put on a flash drive.
I can plug the flash drive into my truck dashboard stereo and listen to the entire library.
I would say in the last 2 to 3 years the CD collection is over 100 albums.
That's over 1000 songs..and they all fit to the flash drive!

Here is an interesting development.
Spotify Ending Service in Uruguay Due to Bill Requiring Fair Pay for Artists
Last month, the Uruguayan Parliament approved a copyright law amendment demanding "equitable remuneration"

Hats off to Uruguay! I'm an idealist. I hope that this spreads to other countries, like wildfire.

Apparently Spotify is getting even worse. They are now moving into the area of theft of royalties. Here's a link to an article by Tony van Veen of Disk Makers on the subject.

I listen literally A LOT of different music and streaming is really a salvation for me. My Apple music collection consists of some carefully chosen several thousands of albums so I can’t even imagine how I may have them all always in my pocket in another way than this.
But as an artist I am really happy to receive $25 for half a year from streaming services)))) huge money!

My entire CD collection is ripped to iTunes Match, so I can listen from my iPhone, my iPad or my MacBook, at will. I used to have Sirius XM, but during the lockdown I could see no reason to have it, because I probably drove less than 50 miles a week, and it just wasn’t worth it. I may get a new Sirius account, one of these days. Does anyone know; is the Surf channel still up?

CDs ripped to MP3 and Bandcamp purchases for the stuff I know I like. Amazon Unlimited and Bandcamp streams (unpurchased) for the stuff I am trying out.
I have lots of random, but often short-lived, interests, so it gets expensive to buy everything.
