Occasionally I run across music I like but for one reason or another, I can’t buy. I do then download it. However, usually it won’t load into my Apple Music. So I’m stuck listening to it from the file I down loaded.

Last night I heard some background music on a YouTube video. This morning, I located the source and attempted to purchase it. No deal.
It is only downloadable for free to my files. Here’s the music. This irritates the hell out of me. Grrr.

Deezer streaming service is the one I pay for, with a one-year subscription it costs less than the other streamers. I think it has the widest selection but it is tricky to navigate. I have tried many of the others. Amazon Music Unlimited requires me to logout and log in again to get it to work properly, that's annoying. Tidal was okay but more costly. Spotify discontinued several of my favorites.

As a musician Pandora is the best. It plays my recordings more and pays me more. However, royalties keep shrinking yearly and they are now negligible, probably because CD Baby quit selling physical CDs.

CD Baby is the only music service that cheated me outright. CD Baby sold me contracts on individual albums where they were obligated to offer physical CDs, sell MP3 downloads and make the recordings available to visitors for audition. They reneged on all those things without any compensation. They gave me a choice of Paying Them to return the physical CDs they had Demanded I send them or allowing these albums to be trashed. CD Baby is dishonest and dishonorable, shame on them.

Among modern streaming services Soundcloud pays absolutely nothing, it is the Salvation Army Store of streaming services. Reverbnation is worse, often sending solicitations for money and paying nothing, so Reverbnation is the Camp of Homeless among streaming services.

To listen to my own recordings as they evolve towards final versions I use Box.com. It is very easy to upload MP3s there and I can make them available to my cellphone off-line. I like box.com much.

Thanks for the tip. I'm going to check out Box for music streaming my own CD rips.

I use Youtube and Bandcamp to check things out, then if i want to hear something repeatedly, I'll buy the download from Bandcamp or Itunes.

I've never used Spotify, and never will unless they start paying artists a lot more fairly.

Deal with reality, or reality will deal with you.
