Just saw this on the Fender web site.
https://www.fender.com/en-US/electric-guitars/jaguar/vintera-60s-jaguar/0149773308.html
I just paid $850 for a like new one, but I got a nice gig bag, and I didn't pay tax. Still ...

I think that's a total bargain for that price. Vintage specs to a great extent, and with the blue color you get a matching headstock. If I didn't already have a vintage one, I'd really be tempted to get one.

The Tele with a Bigsby is also appealing, but I just bought two beater guitars for some projects I've had in mind.

I wish they would put the original headstock shape on these. I would be a subtle difference but would make them that much more authentic.

How are these? I guess I'll find out. Haven't heard great things about them but at that price im willing to investigate. I'm planning on replacing the typical parts.

Today my wife was ribbing me and said she wanted more loving surprises. I said "Surprise! I just bought a new guitar, and I love it!"

I'd be curious to hear more reviews on it if people do buy them at this price. I've always found the specs on the current budget Fender Jags to be weird. You have the Player, which has a sensible radius but ruins the controls, sound and aesthetic and has a weird bridge - or the Vintera; which has the worst parts of a vintage Jaguar, the 7.25", the JM bridge; and has a Pao Ferro fretboard - but which also has a locking trem and in OT, even has the matched headstock.
For me, it seems strange to take the Fender over the Squier when the Squier has both the 60's and 70's designs (60's matched with dots, 70's unmatched with blocks), the 9.5" radius, and the flaws in the Squier are the same as the Fender - iffy quality control and a relatively bad bridge and trem. If you're buying a Staytrem bridge and collet and an AV(RI) tremolo anyway then why not just get the Squier in the first place?
I found the stock Mustang style bridge on my Squier 70's CV to actually be quite decent. The small modification I made was to install a pair of American Pro Jag style nylon inserts on the bridge posts. The guitar did need some serious set-up work (fret level/dress, nut work) and it now plays incredibly well. The stock trem is just "OK" but the arm does stay in place. The only thing I keep going back and forth on is replacing the stock pickups. Just in a bit of a quandary as to what I would upgrade them with.

and just like that, they are $999 again, but still 20% off.
The last time I got railed like that was at Sears buying a dishwasher. Shameful pricing practices.

Ouch.
Well, on the plus side, I feel better about paying $850 for a used one.

And at each price they say 20% off. Definitely weird.

And not only %20 off of $999, but if you enroll in a new first time buyer you get another %10 off.
I have done this numerous times..using different email addresses.

I don't know how I lucked out, but I've been searching everywhere for a Vintera Jaguar 60's. Saw a few used ones on FB and Craigslist, usually north of $800. Found a few new ones for $829-$879 + shipping. During a recent search, Amazon popped up with a new one in sunbusrst for $612.00 + tax ($670 total), free Prime shipping. Amazon is the seller and it comes from their warehouse. Said they had 5 of them. Ordered it last Friday night, it arrived today. Went back on Amazon today, shows one left, but now their price is $999. Here's a pic of my new Jaguar.
So, while I was checking to see whether they had any more at $612, I see they have a new Player Series Jassmaster for $580.99 should anyone be interested.
