As an intermediate player I’m still discovering what I like in terms of string gauges and picks…
So far for strings I really like 11-52’s and for picks I have been using TORTEX III 1.14 but recently started playing with the 1.5 and I love it!
It seems to make tremolo picking a lot easier than regular sized picks and it also seems to last a bit longer too…
Anyone else play with 1.5’s?

Everything from .46 mm Fender thins to 4 mm V-Picks. For Surf, at leas if I want to maximize drip, I use something like a Dunlop 486 Gel pick, in Medium-Light. I also use a Dunlop 205 a lot of the time, which is a slightly oversized TearDrop Jazz pick. Either the Dunlop 205 or a V-Picks Chicken Picker works best for me, when going for a solid tremolo.
If I had to live on a planet with only one pick design, it would be the planet that had V-Picks Chicken Pickers, as its design. These are slightly smaller than a standard Fender 351 shape, have a medium tip that is rounded, but not dull, and they just suit my hand perfectly. They are a 1.5 mm pick, although I have some in 2.8 mm. If you like tremolo picking, you might want to give one of these a try.

Not as thick, these come in 1, 2 or 3mm and are very easy to grip.

I find that gripping a thicker pick is very comfortable and gives a lot more control.

I've got two questions: How much do those run you, and how long does it take for the point to wear down? I assume that is acrylic? I love thick picks like that, but the points wore down seemingly faster than the skinnier Cool picks.

And I thought I was tough with a 7mm Wegen! My bass player used to call it the buttermint.
