Sharing great pride with the 18 bands on the Charlie Does Surf compilation, I am very pleased to announce that Rickshaw Records has secured a deal with an international distributor for an initial order of 2,000 copies of Charlie Does Surf!
The CD's are being purchased by a very large music retail chain in Japan (The Japanese equivalent of Borders Bookstore here in the US.)
I believe this is a huge win for every band on the compilation, and for the indie surf scene as a whole, because it sets a precedent for ALL OF US to earn substantial distribution deals, sell new music to new fans, and get our favorite music heard throughout the world! ...Even the Cowabunga Discussion group is mentioned in the liner notes!
So, I want to say a personal "THANK YOU" to everyone who has purchased or downloaded the CD in the last 18 months, supported the surf music scene, played the tracks on radio, and helped make this possible. Everyone will benefit from expanding the exposure of our little group. Stand up and be heard!
