This guitar was bought new in the mid70's by my dad and it was used for some jamming then I got it and same used for jamming for a couple of years then got a LesPaul then a strat I put it aside...now I want to revive it it is in good shape some rusted screws, probably a new bridge and a nut would make it come back but I get a buzzing sound, played a bit with truss rod improved it still the buzzing ...which gauge should I use to go from there on the rebuild.
Thanks in advance

Welcome Becker!
If it's a real jazzmaster style bridge, those prefer heavier gauges - .11 or thicker. Keep in mind, the nut will have to be filed to accommodate those thicker strings if it hasn't already.

Thanks Danny I'll try that... I get a buzz even on the 22nd fret. We cover some Ventures tunes so I wanted to get the proper guitar for that set

Good luck! You'll find a lot more specific info here. They may even know of your Ibanez copy.

You said it's still buzzing at the 22nd fret. My guess is it's a bridge saddle. If it's a traditional style Jazzmaster bridge you need to adjust the two grub screws on the saddle so it's level.
