In 1987, Ron Wilson of the Surfaris, the drummer famous for the surf rock song "Wipe Out", recorded the song "Louie Louie" with Sean Folsom on Highland bagpipes, as well as the song "Moonshine" with Sean on the uilleann pipes. The album is called Lost It in the Surf.

The arrangement of this song started out as a joke in 1983, at Kalisa's Restaurant on Cannery Row, Monterey, California.

Sean, is it true that Ron Wilson was related to the Wilson's of the Beach Boys?

Hi Gitta ! They had the same last name but No, Ron Wilson & Brian Wilson were not related. Both Bands, The Sufaris & The Beach Boys toured Australia together in the Fall of 1963. When they returned to Los Angeles, they found out that the Beatles were the Next Big Hit in Music. Ron told me that He Thought It Was All Over & Gone for Surf Music at that Point. They had "Wipe Out" & "Surfer Joe" being Big Hits in May of 1963, so Ron said that His Band's Apogee only lasted 6 months, May to November 1963.

Alan Taylor of Pipeline Magazin had sent to me a cassette with 10 songs from that period.
Members were:
Ron Wilson - Drums, vocals
Paul Emery - Bass , vocals,
Mike Bothum - guitar,
Sean Fulson - Irish Pipe.
The track list was / is:
1. Surfin´ Again
2. Stormy Weather
3. Habiba
4. Lost It In The Sun
5. Seasións
6. Never Come, Never Go
7. Boogie Woogie Feeling
8. O.K. Fine
9. Moonshine
10. Louie, Louie
Extra track was Storm Surf with the Surfaris line-up from 1964 (??)
