Some busy weeks, sorry! But let us move on.
Next band is Kraken Landau. Founded around 2016 and combining conceptual outfit and performance with scifi surf, punk, billy and other styles in their own way they quickly became one the most known and active bands on scene! You may find some records here and they are good!

Around 2019 guys from Space Psychotropic Plank-Tone (also having active Rockabilly and Psychobilly bands!!!) decided that one surf band is not enough! Unbelievable guys led by unique guitar player, composer and singer knows as Chris, legendary figure in Ukrainian music!
This time they've made some pretty different project from cosmic sci-fi Space Psychotropic Plank-Tone vibes, going into more strightforward, but fresh and enjoyable 50/60 rock'n roll inspired instrumentals.
Cobra Twist! Hawaiian shirts, go-go girls, limbo dance and tropical vibrations with great songwriting and impeccable performance and we've got one the best surf bands on scene for my taste!

I really like that open, trio sound. That’s my preferred way to play, leads played over just a bass and drums, and mixing rhythm and lead fills, over the vocals.

Me too! I’ve tried to add second guitar several times but always come back to trio format, even if it’s pretty challenging for my average guitar skills.

With the exception of something on the order of Eagles Country Rock, I find a rhythm guitar to get in the way. I’m not putting it down, I’ve been known to play some rhythm in my day, but I don’t like playing lead lines over a rhythm backing.

The newest addition to the Ukrainian surf scene is a young band (of two young pals and beautiful young lady drummer) called The ChuGuysters. Playing atmospheric horror surf with great melodies and cool thematic performances they quickly became one of the most interesting acts in scene. I highly recommend their first album published several months ago! https://thechuguysters.bandcamp.com/album/first-warning

I have to say, he gets some great sounds out of that Jaguar, and he has a right hand that can’t be beat.

He is really great! Also always nice to see some people under 30 years old playing surf music!

I’m pleasantly surprised when people under 30 can get their noses out of their smartphones.

Newest addition to the Ukrainian surf is a project named Maui Diver. It’s a one man band of Waikiki Makaki guitar player with some tropical vibes) For now only one single was released but there is information that some more tunes are coming and we’ve got hopes for an album or at least EP later in the year.
