What is the difference in sound if I play through a 1X15” cab vs a 2X15” cab?
I had problems finding a single speaker that could handle the power of my amp and now got a great deal on two 15” speakers instead. Are there any negative things about going that way?

In most instances, I think the 2-15 cabs sound bigger. But that being said, the tone ring single 15's sound pretty massive too. Weight and size are obviously the big differences. A lot of guys around these parts are opting out of lugging around larger amps. I'm not on that list generally speaking as I like big amps. I get inspiration from seeing that blonde backline. Additionally, we play out so seldom that lugging them out and back is just a minor inconvenience.

Just my two cents.......

Traditional........speak softly and play through a big blonde amp. Did I mention that I still like big blonde amps?

I have not experienced a single 15 without a tone ring. The 215 does that sound bigger and more powerful, it must be because it’s moving more air. The 15 inch tone ring however is way more drippy and only a little thinner.

What kind of speakers you are using! I have been bitten by the Jensen bug, and I’m now looking to take out two JBLs and replace them with Jensens.

I said this because I just got my first Jensen cab, a 212, and it drips so much better than the JBLs. But I really like 15 inch speakers, so I need to get that going.

I also like Jensen. I am going for the C15K since I have a 100W amp. Otherwise I would choose the C15N

I have a 175 watt 1x15 Weber California that sounds amazing. I am sure a 2x15 would sound great, but I would dread carrying that thing to and from gigs. Also, I don't know if it would even fit in my car! Laughing

A 215 is the same size as a 15” tone ring, and not much heavier even with JBLs.

True, but I have a compact cab that is 28" wide (I like the sides to stick out if a Brownface Showman is sitting on top of it). I believe that is quite a bit smaller / lighter than a standard 1x15 tone ring.
