Surf and vintage guitar fans, here is a trip back 50 years or more. Look at the beautiful "tobacco sunburst" and trem on this guitar!
Price is $325 plus shipping.
This lovely 70's early Lyle guitar was made in the Matsumoku factory in Japan. The workers in that factory were taught by Gibson techs and created many quality guitars, most notably Univox, Epiphone and Lyle. If you check photos of those brands online, you'll see the same pickups, bridges and hardware on many of them. This is one of the best-made 70's guitars you will find, equal to Epiphone and Univox.
The neck plate is a giveaway - all the Matsumoku instruments had this neck plate with characters in this font. It's a trademark of that factory, which closed in 1987.
The neck is pleasantly narrow, and the instrument is fun to play. I bought it 20 years ago, but as a bass player I mostly kept it in storage. In the pictures you can see that it's missing a few strings, as it has just been sitting.
It hasn't been played in about 15 years, and needs strings and one tuner ferrule (check the photos). It may also need some attention to the nut, depending on what size strings you use. The body and finish are in very nice condition, without scratches or chips. It also has a rare tremolo setup, which you don't see very often on these guitars.
Don't be surprised if the electronics need some cleaning up....this is a 50 year old guitar that hasn't been played in years. One pickup has a small chip on its cover, but is solid and in good condition. It had a pickguard at one time (the screw hole is present on the side) but that is long gone.
I love the tort on the switch plate, which matches the tort on the headstock. To me that's a great look and tells this guitar's vintage story to even a casual observer. Ask questions if necessary!
I will package it thoroughly for shipping; it will ship inside a gig bag and padding, inside a larqer box.
No returns or refunds on this guitar. I will insure it for the purchase price.
NOTE: Shipping is ADDITIONAL TO THE GUITAR COST and I will work it out with you, but only actual cost will be charged.
Please give this beautiful Lyle a new home. You will be proud to take it to your next practice or gig!!
It's easy to go the extra mile when you miss the last exit.
