I really like Bandcamp but I am not so sure about Epic with some of the lawsuits and such. Thoughts?

I'm generally against media consolidation. I've spent a ridiculous amount on bandcamp, absolutely love the service, but if Epic bought them they must want to be a middleman and grab some of that money. I just can't see how this could be a good thing for the artists or the consumers. That said, I'm not aware of a lawsuit where Epic was the bad guy. Their big battle with Apple was to keep Apple from taking a huge portion of transactions processed in their iOS games, which should help just about every developer on the platform. — |

Epic argument seems to be that 55% is a monopoly and as such, Apple needs to decrease the percentage it takes. I believe the percentage has been that way since the app store started. Epic has billions in revenue and would get a good chunk more if the percentage charged by Apple was reduced. So I treat any words by Epic with great suspicion. -Darren |
