So it did arrive today and it’s unbelievable) Surely it sounds and plays like a dream but what surprised me - its’s brighter than my Jag and pretty similar in sound, just more sustain and body. It surely has much more punch and high end then jazzmasters I had before (Japanese and USA reissues). Is it because of thin skin or just this very guitar? It looks the same in specs as usual 62 reissues but its really bright and punchy.
And yes, I am surely going towards offsets from strats…

Guitars do vary a little from one another but JM's are bright as hell by nature. The tone knob is your friend! I'm also a fan of tweaking the electronic values a little to tame some of that top end.

Wow! That is exactly the kind of Jazzmaster I would want. What a great find. Glad to hear that it plays and sounds as good as it looks, too.

Yep, seems the jazzmasters I’ve tried were not really good)

Me too! I’ve got a Wildwood av65 JM, it plays and sounds great. But I always pick up the jag. I played strats for 25 years before experiencing the joy of the jag. Now the strats feel like they’re fighting me, they’re so clunky!

Big congrats, that's a killer looking JM. Those Thin Skins that are made in limited runs for various shops (Wildwood, Dave's, etc) always seem to be outstanding guitars. I had a Thin Skin '52 Tele some years ago (that I ended up moving on from...dumb, dumb, dumb) and it was a great playing and sounding guitar that probably fit somewhere in between a USA made Fender and a Custom Shop Fender; it was that good.

But Jaguar should be brighter, right?) surely it depends on guitar, pickups, etc, but average avri Jaguar is brighter and Jazzmaster is mellower. Here no, this Jazzmaster is bright and twangy like hell. That surprised me a little but in a good way.

Congratulations, Samurai! I too have a Thin-Skin Jazzmaster and an AVRI Jaguar, they are impeccable.
Don't know what the general rule is, but when both my Jag and JM are setup the same (Stock AVRI PU's, Pyramid flats .013-.56), the JM is more prominent at both ends - Deeper, rounder bass and spikier highs. The Jag is more mid-rangy and biting.

Yep, pretty similar for me, however my Jag has more low end and surely midrange. It’s not a usual AVRI but 50’s anniversary with hotter pickups and a repositioned vibrato. But I use rounwounds, may be will try the flats once)

Jazzmasters actually have more low and more high end to my ears. Jaguars sound more balanced.

Congrats on the super guitar!
I’ve also got a thin skin, in Lake Placid Blue. Got it new about 2007 from Wildwood. It’s the only guitar that I’ve ever picked and, right away, it felt just right for me. Well, the Jazzmaster and also a thin skin Jaguar. But I opted for the Jazzmaster.
I love the sound of the pickups. Ideal for what I like to hear. It just feels great in the hands. The nitro finish has a rich feel to it. The trem system has a beautiful, gradual warble that sounds like nothing else. The only change that I’ve made is a Mastery bridge. For me, the guitar is the closest thing to perfect that I’ve ever come across.
Enjoy yours!
You are in Kiev so, you know, best of luck with the future of world politics.

Thanks, man. We really need a support against warring Russia.
Concerning thin skin, they are really something special, don’t really know why, but such a great guitars for sure!

Yeah, these thin skins just have something special. At least something that I really like. If you enjoy yours as much as I do mine, you're all set.
Oh boy, I do feel for everyone in Ukraine. Fingers crossed that it's all just bluster and things will calm down with nothing serious happening. Good vibes sent your way. For the guitar and the bigger things in life.
