I was lucky enough to catch Pollo del Mar's free show @
Streetlight Records in San Jose this afternoon. As usual
they kicked royal butt! From the phenominal opener
"Annabelle Lee/ Red Asphalt", through "Tsunami Struck",
"Charlie Don't Surf", "Johnny Foo, Ninja Chiropravtor",
"Dripping Springs, Texas", "Dark Side of the Mushroom/
As Above So Below", "The Hall of the Mountain King",
"The Bells of St. Kahuna", "Route 666", and wrapping it up
with " A Touch of Green" (complete with the pschedelic
raga middle jam excusrsion, (requested by some pushy
jerk in the audience ), as usual, PDM tore it up
from start to finish. They played a little over an hour,
and no matter how long they play, it is never quite long
enough. Don't get me wrong, I am always satisfied by the
great performances these guys deliver, but I wish they could
just play another hour (or three!!!). PDM never plays their
songs the same way twice. They always throw in little changes
and cool surprises. They just continue to get better and better.
The interplay seems to border on telepathic. Enough already!!!
I guess I better stop gushing. These guys are just plain GREAT!
And by the way, be sure to get their new CD, "Year of the
Rooster". It KILLS!!!!
OK Ferenc, you can pay me my $20 now....
