My old friend Ed (@LordWellfleet on this forum) moved to Dennis Port last year, and he and I are working on starting up a group, to be called Lord Wellfleet & the Oystermen. He and I both play guitar, but I wouldn't be opposed to moving over to bass or drums if the right guitar player comes along.
Please get in touch if you would be interested in participating!

Just bumping this to confirm that we are still trying to get something going. We are actively recording an album's worth of original material on my vintage 4-track reel-to-reel, and we would love to be able to perform this music with a full band.

Beatcomber, have you given this query to the North East Surf Music Alliance (NESMA)? They might be able to help. Here's their website.

Many thanks! I think their site was down the last time I checked.

Hi Matt -
I saw your group at Kowloon during the tiki fest. Your take on surf music is very unique!
(FWIW, I’m in Lexington. The group currently rehearses only once or twice a month, so the drive is not that big a deal for me.)

UPDATE: We are now known as THE HYDRONAUTS and have released our first album and played a bunch of gigs. We will soon be recording some new materials and will be playing at the Rockaway Beach Surf Festival in August too.
I have personally moved around between playing guitar, bass and drums in the group since we started, but we have currently settled into a trio format since finding a great bass player last year; I am now pretty much only playing drums with the group.
But here’s the thing… In about a year from now (Spring-Summer 2026), I will be moving to Japan. I would like to see this band continue even without me, so we are now on the hunt for a drummer to take my place. If we can fill that spot NOW, I could switch back to playing guitar in the group, and we could be a proper 4-piece.
If anyone has any leads on a drummer, please let me know! We are currently rehearsing on the Cape once or twice a month, but moving rehearsals anywhere between the Cape and Boston is a definite possibility. Thanks!
