Permalink Surf tabs (and some covers/demos)

Hello everyone!

In these challenging times I felt like playing guitar kind of loses its magic. Because I could not join up with my colleagues for rehearsals, I played less and less. We mainly played pop rock, but we also covered two surf classics: Misirlou and Wipe out. While playing around with these I became curious what is the recent status of the surf rock scene. Then I discovered The Madeira and everything changed, I was instantly hooked. From then, I play guitar almost every day.

I noticed that there are no tabs available so I had to play by ear. While at it, I thought the tabs might be of help and I started to transcribe the songs as I learned them.

Until now I managed to transcribe 8 songs:
- The Madeira - Ricochet (found the tab around here, I just copied it in Guitar Pro format)
- The Madeira - Cities of Gold
- The Madeira - Coral Island
- The Madeira - Farthest Shore
- The Madeira - Mar Vista
- The Madeira - Undercurrents
- The Space Cossacks - The Defector
- The Eliminators - El Borracho

The taba are in Guitar Pro format, available on and

I also recorded a full cover of The Defector and a demo of Coral Island.

I plan to keep adding tabs as I learn new songs. Hope it helps!

Best regards,

Welcome to the forum. That's some excellent playing.

If I'd stop buying old guitars to fix, I might actually learn to play.
Bringing instruments back to life since 2013.

Thank you for posting the tabs.
As a big fan of The Madeira, I too have attempted to perform their songs to the best of my abilities.

Here's one video of mine, (my favorite song of theirs).

Thank you, everyone! I'm very happy that you like the materials!

We just recorded a beach session featuring some other The Madeira songs. The tabs are already available.

P.S. Oh, boy, the beach is a tough recording environment...

Some coool covers here! I am not so brave as to cover Ivan’s guitar parts, need to work more)
