Permalink The Astronauts' "Kuk" And "Banzai Pipeline" Reversed Names Explanation

New Topic

The original 1963 RCA Victor LP release of Surfin' With The Astronauts correctly lists "Kuk" as B1 and "Banzai Pipeline" as B2.

The version of the album that the CD generation would be most familiar with is the 1989 Bear Family "2 on 1" Competition Coupe and Surfin' With CD, which incorrectly reverses the two songs. So, track 7, while listed as "Kuk" (which is in the correct original order) is actually "Banzai Pipeline" and track 8 labeled "Banzai Pipeline" (again, the titles are in the correct order) is actually "Kuk."

"Kuk" is an Astronauts original with vocals (Demmon-Gallagher-Patterson-Lindsay-Fifield) and "Banzai Pipeline" is a Mancini tune that originally appeared on a 1963 RCA Victor 7" single and 1963 RCA Victor LP Uniquely Mancini.
