Just listening to the lyrics and arrangement, plus the tone of the guitars I'm thinking it's a late 60's surf movie song. Doesn't sound like the 50s to me. "Do the Surf" sounds like a cash in song in a B- surf movie that didn't include Frankie and the wonderful, beautiful and talented Ms. Funicello.

I played guitar on this song which was recorded in NY in 1966. We were a NJ garage band who were selected to record with Trudy. The movie was never made.
