Permalink Help - Fender REVERB TANK - Need Troubleshooting?

New Topic

Hi Guys, Help, I need troubleshooting/diagnosis?

My 2012 Reissue Fender Reverb Tank (model 6G15)
- is NOT working as it should ..,
AS ..., I'm only getting a MILD reverb effect from it ???

To be specific
- With my DWELL knob set to full at 100%
- Plus my MIX knob also set full at 100%
..., I am only hearing a slight reverb effect from my unit?

With these 100% settings Guys,
Usually, id expect to have my 'brain fried' by extremely oversaturated reverb, not the mild effect I am now hearing.

What I've tried so far with my own troubleshooting ..,
(note; there are no strange crackles, pops, or other strange undesirable noises happening (like with worn/dirty pots) when I 'twiddle the Dwell/Mix/Tone knobs' as the sound I do get is crystal clear & clean)

  • Yes, the spring LOCK has been released and I've made sure the spring box can move freely on its supporting spring mechanism.

  • The knobs/ pots are not stuck either and move freely, and I do hear a difference in effect level as I increase the knob from zero percent to 100 percent.

Does anyone with experience know or suggest AS TO WHY I am not getting the reverb full effect out of my Reissue Reverb Tank ?

anyone?

Hi LOM101 - sorry to hear your Reverb woes. Doesn't get much sadder than a sick 6G15.

Additional common troubleshooting / fault isolation steps in relative order of time/cost, first checking for secure connections and quickly possible parts that are starting to fail:

-Remove foot switch if you have it connected. Different/Better?

-Disconnect, reconnect RCA cables between pan and chassis (all connectors). Different/Better?

-Remove & reseat tubes 1 at a time & test as you go. Different/Better?

-Try new/different set of RCA cables. Different/Better?

-Replace first tube (far right when looking in the back, should be 12AX7 or equivalent). Different/Better?

-Replace second/middle tube (should be 12AT7 or equivalent). Different/Better?

-Replace the third (far left when looking in the back, originally a 6V6GT in the reissues, many prefer the 6K6GT like the originals had - either works). Different/Better?

-Replace the spring pan/"tank". Different/Better?

...if none of those improve the situation, you're likely dealing with something in the circuit best checked out by a tech.

Hope that helps & good luck brining it back to splashy health!
