No but there's a surf drums DVD called Pounding Surf. —Danny Snyder Playing keys and guitar with Combo Tezeta Formerly a guitarist in The TomorrowMen and Meshugga Beach Party Latest surf project - Now That's What I Call SURF |

Highly recommended! Really cool live footage and commentary/advice from a bunch of fab surf drummers. Plus, mine came with a signed photo from the man Dusty himself. How cool is that? I'll talk drums all day if you want to! Go! —Skins for The Delstroyers |

Actually the quest is for a drummer who wants to play surf. This is where I figure a site dedicated to surf drumming would be a good place to find a drummer in Central Jersey. —What day is Surf Rock's birthday? Looks like Surf Rock and I was born the same year. Maybe we are both Libras? |

And here I thought we were going to get to nerd out on flamadiddles and drumheads. Ah well, best of luck in your quest. I would say the standard location targeted “musicians wanted” type websites may be a good bet. —Skins for The Delstroyers |

I'll geek out on drumology Did you know all 41 drum rudiments were originally military signals for commands by snare drummers in Army's etc. It was later adapted tonality wise for fills etc when the first drum kits emerged in about 1910 for Dixieland music. Basically many orchestral type percussionists were replaced by just one drummer with a drum kit. That's why drumming is so hard, you are doing the work of six musicians. It was a hazardous job back in in the Civil War, you were the first target If you were a sanre drummer. |

Indeed! I played in marching band in high school and college - fun stuff except when 40 degrees and raining here in the PNW. The level that the great drum lines of today have taken things is pretty insane. —Skins for The Delstroyers |

Thanks CreepBeat. Hmmm, “Musicians Wanted” websites. Since I started playing Surf/Instro in 2004, I could write a book on all the wierdos that came from that “Musicians wanted” website “InstroSurfRockYouMeanLikeTheBeachboysList.” —What day is Surf Rock's birthday? Still would like to find a drummer in the Central Jersey area who is familiar with surf rock. Know anyone? Drumstick did a fill-in one time for our band at a surfing contest at Manasquan beach. “ DB, I’ve joined that drummers group and when I get a chance I’ll introduce myself. Although a bass player, I have actually studied the Ted Reed “Syncopation” book. Starting on drum pad, I later played most of the book on slap and pizz upright bass. Yes, it didn’t sound like surf rock but overall I became a better bass player by familiarizing myself with feel of syncopation. To my detriment, after all that training I now hear a lot of sloppy drumming and here I am looking for a warm body to sit on the drum throne in my basement. —What day is Surf Rock's birthday?
