Permalink Four Christmas Instrumentals

New Topic

Last year at this time I recorded a batch of Christmas instrumentals. I decided to go out on a limb and turn four of them into videos and put a playlist up on the ol' YouTube. Take a look when you feel a little Christmas spirit and have a few minutes to kill.

Note: These are not exactly surfy - just songs played on guitar so I hope they are not boring. A couple have arrangements adapted from The Ventures and Los Straitjackets, the other two are my own arrangements. The lead is played over backing tracks created with Band in a Box software.

Listening to "God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen" right now... I love it!

MooreLoud.com - A tribute to Dick Dale. New Singles "Finish Line" and "Paradiso" on Bandcamp and website.

Thanks for taking a look. Playing Christmas songs is not for everyone but for those who don't like playing them (our drummer was not a big fan) they only come along once time a year. It's fun to try to make them interesting from a guitar playing point of view. Not sure how successful I've been but hey, I gave it a shot!

Nicely-played, Rob!
All four tunes are terrific listening!

Thanks for listening Drumsdick. Glad that you found them enjoyable.
I took a look at the website for The Aquatudes. You guys have a great logo. Nicely designed. And the color of your drums is killer!

Rob,
Nice - I like that you used different guitar tones for the songs. Plus the videos were very relaxing. Sorry I missed this post earlier, it would have been perfect for Christmas. Will try to remember when and if we ever get snow in Maryland again!!!

Thanks for your comments, Art. Nothing wrong with a little Christmas in February. Only 11 months until Christmas! Big Grin
