Fender should have kept those. The neck looks wider to me. I like wide necks like that. They have cheap version much like Squire vs Fender etc for half the price or more as well for like $599. The real one is like $1800 or more etc ….which isn't too bad even for a nice quality guitar like that. Top notch Surf Guitar in my mind. Top
