Tqi: Is it morally acceptable to use a Radial capacitor in a 1960 amp design?

synchro: TQI, morality is a huge question and capacitors a deep subject. I say do it and don't tell anyone. Smile

I think that one's gonna be a tough sell around these parts! Thanks for covering all the gear you do, though.

Sounds pretty good to me. Nice playing in the video.

Deal with reality, or reality will deal with you.

I agree, i think its exciting that companies are making attempts at that sound now though. A pedal like this could be a young players intro into exploring surf music.

Thanks for the comparison video- that was really helpful. I checked out some videos of the Oceans 11 last night and liked what I heard- your video only confirmed that. Topanga sounded pretty good as well. I liked the Ventris but didn't like the trails, which you mentioned could be adjusted.
Overall, I think the Oceans 11 is my favorite, especially because it's not super expensive.

Good comparison video:
For my ears, the Ventris sounded the best with the Oceans 11 coming in a VERY CLOSE 2nd. (besides, I like pedals with lots of knobs to twirl)

Can I have everything louder than everything else!

Thank you for a great comparison
Guess I may take Ocean 11 or Topanga as a substutution for my Surfy Bear
Ventris also soundved nice but to many knobs for my taste)
Others are no rival as for me
Right now I’ve got Keeley Hooke Reverb that I use when I’m lazy to bring tank with me, as for me it will also sound ok in this company)

Thanks for the comparison! The TC on its own came in as not great but good enough for a bedroom player. But, in the context of the group, only if your budget was really constrained.

Quite a spectrum of drip there. imo the Oceans 11 runs away with this one. Topanga sounds good, and surprising how well the FRV-1 still holds up.

I tried out an Oceans 11 yesterday and while it sounded pretty decent, I wasn’t blown away with it. It still didn’t sound as good as the actual spring reverb in my Peavey Bandit 112.

I've been eyeballing the Topanga for awhile and I was (for no real reason) skeptical of the Ocean's 11. But after watching this, your deep-dive video and with an endorsement from RJ Ronquillo, the Oceans 11 seems to be the best, most versatile choice.

I have to say that the Ocean’s Eleven seems to have bottled a bit of magic. It seems to have some real life to the sound.

I have TC electronics hall of fame that I absolutely love! And I’m pretty committed to keeping my rig simple and clean, but I’m seriously considering adding the oceans 11 to my board. Those two pedals together would be a ridiculously great smorgasbord of verb! Also want to say that I love your 60 cycle hum videos! It’s great to see these products put through their paces in an actual surf setting! Keep it up!
