Great show last night in LA. I saw Dave A. and Jon there. Great positive vibe and deep groove. I swear Daikaiju are the best Southern Boogie band out there in surfland.

Well the European leg of the tour has finished. So here are a couple of pics of their second last show in Europe... in my hometown Venlo in Kafee Hatseflats (what's in a name)! It was an amazing night, despite tropical temperatures (we have a heatwave in the Netherlands that already lasts for almost two weeks!). Daikaiju played an amazing tight set that was even better than the one at Surfer Joe Summer Fest a couple of weeks ago! I warned a couple of friends that they would be blown away, but since they work at the local concert hall Grenswerk, they wouldn't believe me. Well, trust me... they where blown away!!! LOL! Everybody was dancing, crowdsurfing, pogoing... lot's of stuff going on! Even with these temperatures (32 degrees celcius, inside even hotter)!
Since the guys (and girls) where sleeping at our place, we had a small after party in our even smaller garden. But I think I saw the sun coming up before I went to bed... next day we had a short visit to Sounds Record Store (ehm the favorite Record Store of Lorenzo and JonPaul) and some coffee (them) and beer (me) at Hatseflats... and that was it! But we still have the photo's!
I had the honor to open up for the guys with my side-project Vettig Vel Punk Rock Karaoke. We play a mix of surf classics and obscure punkrock songs. Our regular bunch of guestsingers where on vacation, just as our regular bassplayer, so we only had 2 rehearsals. But Thessy (the only steady singer we have) and fill in bassplayer Frank did a good job. Here is a not so spectacular shot of our set:

I haven't seen Daikaiju in a while myself, but I feel like every time I check in on them they've somehow managed to make their act even more insane. Glad to see them pushing the envelope further still
