Here is my twang fingerstyle rewritten version of California Dreamin'. The rewriting consists of added chords and notes. After the bridge most of the melody was replaced. With these additions the intent was adding drama and tension, so the lead guitar can more completely replace singing voices.
I appreciate any and all comments. The pickup used was a piezo located under the saddles. I had glued plastic fingernails onto the nails of my index and middle fingers.

Thanks for your question. I didn't intend to resemble J.B. in the changes but I see what you're referring to.
The James Bond chord change is Em - C - Em6 - C. The changes among these chords is in one note traveling from B to C to C# and back to C. It's a bit jazzy, but so is Mr. Bond.
In California Dreamin', after playing E major I added F major and F# major, often adding G major and G# major after those. IMO these changes resemble classical music stylings more than jazz.

Thanks for explaining the changes. It all adds up to a great arrangement.

Nice to see/hear some more fingerpicking on Surf Guitar 101.
I admit that when I read you used the Piezo pickup I was a bit skeptical but that sounds unique and cool.
Thanks for sharing your arrangements and playing.
Cheers,
Jeff

Thanks for your thoughtful comments, Jack and Jeff.
As you suggest Jeff the piezo pickup was challenging. I used a Zoom A3 acoustic guitar pedal. Sometimes the tone can resemble a cello.
My Youtube "channel" name is Ventureshadow.

Cooool! Love the finger picks and the "loose" style. Reverb turned off? Awesome version, especially the darker chords thrown in there, especially the end.
P.S. This is my first post since I just found this haven yesterday. You all will be hearing a lot more for me...

DTide, thanks for posting. There are a couple of reverbs and a couple of delays in the effects chain, but each is light in the mix to keep the notes distinct.
You will probably enjoy fingerstyle Walk Don't Run I recorded in the same session. Here is a link to the discussion of that, which starts with a link to the video. https://surfguitar101.com/forums/topic/30729/?page=1#p413934
