Permalink Need photos from last year's SG101 Convention

As some of you know, both Friday and Saturday night of last year's SG101 Convention were professionally recorded by Mark Linett, Grammy-winning producer and engineer. Mark has worked with the likes of The Beach Boys, ELO, Brian Wilson, Eric Clapton, Los Lobos, and many others.

I've been working with Mark (with help from Ivan Pongracic and Jeff Hanson) to produce a compilation CD of the bands that played last year for release in July, just in time for this year's Convention!!

Mark has a record company involved that will release and distribute this CD (and possibly 12-inch vinyl LPs), so we're all working hard right now to make this the BEST surf music compilation of contemporary surf bands. He will produce the tracks to be included on the record and I will help create the graphics and liner notes.

Toward that end, I'd very much like to see photographs from the event that some of you took. I'm only looking for good quality (not blurry), high resolution (300 dpi or better) JPEG or TIFF images. Not interested so much in candid shots of people as much as I am of full-on stage shots of the bands who performed. Action shots!!!

If you have any photographs that you think fit the bill, I'd love to see them. If any of them are used in the final product, you'll have photo credit in the liner notes.

Please either forward them to me at my email address below, or (if you have quite a few) put them on a file sharing website such as Dropbox and send me a link.

Thanks in advance for any help!!!! This is going to be a killer CD, produced by Mark Linett, a music business giant.

Thank you for your help n work on this John.

I took some photos. I can't say any of them are super great. In the next few days I'll put them in an online gallery somewhere and post a link here. I'm only posting this so you can bug me and publicly shame me if I forget. Smile

I've got a bunch but am away from my main computer until next week. I'll try to remember to get them all together.

Here's my favorites though. Happy to have them used for whatever (for this or for anybody)

Those are cool photos PorFavor, and some of them could be used for this CD project. When you get a chance, please pass them on.

I'm bumping this request again just to help ensure that everyone who was at the SG101 Convention last year sees this. I have yet to receive any photos from the event and I know that many of you took photos (as well as videos), some with nice digital cameras, others with their cell phones. Please read my initial post, above. Thank you to all for any help with this!!!

If the record company that's putting this out decides to pursue VINYL LPs as well as CDs, they are going to need the LP artwork very, very soon (lead time on vinyl pressings is up to 12 weeks long). At this point, it looks like they WILL release this comp on vinyl LPs as well as CDs.

We need your photos.

Thank you, Brian. I've had two others respond directly to me since yesterday. I haven't reviewed anything yet, but this looks promising so far. The more the merrier.
