Permalink PSA: Gverb and Tone Ring cabinet on TGP

New Topic

I've played through both of these in person and can vouch for Thomas taking care of his gear.

I couldn’t see any pictures. Are they encrusted in diamonds? If not, prices seem “optimistic”. But, good luck with the sale.

I'm not the one selling as I already sold my Gverb for $2275 shipped:

And I guess don't see how $975 shipped and paypal'd for a Tone Ring cab with a new Weber 15" is "optimistic". I paid well over $300 to ship my last one which is almost as much as I sold it for. and it wasn't anywhere near the quality of the ones Rick @ RAWoods builds. Encrusted in diamonds? Nope. But he's not donating them to charity either.

I'll message him about the pics.

For some reason the pics only show up when you log in to TGP.

Here you go..

I'm going to stand by my original statement. I've never seen a 1x15 cabinet sell for that much money. If you paid $300 to ship one, you paid too much. I've sold a bunch of them, and even with materials to build custom foam reinforced boxes, never paid more than $150 to ship one. That cabinet is $650 shipped, tops.

The G Reverb is $2300 tops. even your sold price is less, and you got top dollar. I've seen most sell for $1500 - $2000.

Pricing 10-20% over past market value is optimistic, especially right now. and, doubly on big giant speaker cabinets. nobody wants those.

There are a bunch of cool Princeton Reverb clones around, and most if not all are cheaper than $2500, and some even offer some cool features that the Gomez doesn't have, no disrespect to Gomez. I'd love to have a G Reverb, but not for that price.

Don't get me wrong, I hope the dude gets his price. But, asking a bunch more than anyone ever on a forum rather than an open market usually means "good luck" selling, because no one will pay it. Not to mention no pics, and not much for a description.

and, if it was an SG101 member selling these, I'd keep my mouth shut out of respect for the forum. But, since it's not, I'm going to call them out. The price is too high to sell them.

Or, I will be proved wrong. It won't be the first time, or the last.

But, keep this in mind. Look up sold "Fender Showman" on ebay, and see what amp currently is the most expensive. It was mine. That's top dollar on that amp. It took nearly a month to get that price. You can ask whatever you want, but if you want to sell it, you need to price it where people will buy it.

Wow I’m looking to see if there’s any g verbs around and stumbled on this. I’m floored at the asking price. Probably going to try LilDawg amps.

Lil Dawg amps are awesome. I went through a tweed stage years ago and the Lil Dawg amps I had (5F1 & 5E3) stood out as the best. Jim was great to deal with.

And I have to agree with Sonichris on the cab. Close to a grand for that cab seems "optimistic" at best. Particularly in this tough used market.

But I wish him the best of luck. I'd be a buyer at $650...maybe 700.
