A local so cal friend used to record a lot of live shows on Mini Disc,
Clint Beachwood and KCR radio in San Diego released a cd comp of live surf bands that he had recorded with it.

i had one. the sound quality was great.

Still have my Sony MD, and it still works fine. Recorded many live shows with it.
Prerecorded MDs are now very collectible, and very expensive. Not many were manufactured, or sold. Any surf music releases on MD?

Two. Which is interestingly, the same as the number of polka releases.

Which proves what I've been saying since '62, Surf music is just a Polka with reverb drenched guitars in place of accordions. Smile

The artist formerly known as: Synchro

When Surf Guitar is outlawed only outlaws will play Surf Guitar.

My little one-man surf band dog and pony show uses minidiscs for my back-up tracks (recorded partly on a Yamaha MD-8 8-track MD recorder). My same master discs have been in service for over 15 years, without a single glitch. No so lucky with the decks, however, as the transports are notoriously hinky. When they fail, I just buy another used one off Ebay for cheap. I have acquired, however, three top-o-the-line premium Sony decks that appear to be bulletproof, including two rack-mount MDS-E11's. Anybody need one?
