Hi everybody) I am planing to visit Surfer Joe fest this summer so will appreciate any tips as I've never been to Livorno and Italy.
Rome or Pisa to fly? Trains or buses to Livorno?
Where to live? May be somebody is planning to rent a flat for company and will let me to join in? Hostels?
Thanks a lot in advance)

Plane to Pisa, then there's a shuttle that takes 5 minutes to Pisa station, then a 20 minute train ride to Livorno.

Hey Samurai! So great to hear that you'll be making it to the festival this year! It really is a magical event and brings the global Surf world closer together than you'd ever imagine!
It really comes down to time and money. Unfortunately, none of the "puddle jumper" budget airlines fly out of Ukraine. If you are planning on a budget (like most of us), your cheapest option would be to fly to Milan and then take the train to Livorno. This will take a bit longer, but you're looking at $234 plus train. If budget is no concern, looks like you can fly direct to Pisa and then take the train to Livorno for around $450.
IMHO, the most fun thing to do, especially if traveling by yourself, would be to go in on an Air B'n'B with a few other Surf people. This could save a huge amount in the end. When looking for accommodations, you really want something as close to the AQUARIUM as possible. Most of the hotels/hostels are up towards the main part of town, which is a considerable distance from the diner/aquarium. Having said that, it's still an easy bus ride or if you are so inclined, it's a fun bicycle ride! However, at 5AM when you are stumbling back home, it is nice to be close by. : ) Cheers! Looking forward to meeting you!

You can also take a taxi from Pisa airport to Livorno
for about 50 Euros one way.
I enjoyed to stay in 2014 and 2015 at the four star hotel "Livorno Grand Palazzo" about 900 yards away from the event.
The price was however more than 150 Euros a night with breakfast.
I had booked the flight and the hotel in my travel agency,
probably it will be cheaper when you book directly?

Thanks for the info, but I will search for direct bookings and a kind of more economy) booking.com says that prices start from 40 euros/night for a room that looks ok for me.

As Clarry said, fly to Pisa if you can. One way trip from the airport to Livorno by shuttle and train costs about 5-6 Euro.
If you arrive early it's a good tip to check your luggage at the left luggage at Pisa railway station then wander into Pisa to look at the falling-over-tower, it's maybe a 20 minute walk.
Bus from Livorno station another couple of Euros. You can walk it easily enough, if you know which way! You can get a free map of Livorno from the tourist office behind McDonalds.
I've always found Livorno people very friendly and helpful. IT's worth finding the world's oldest ponce bar for a true taste of Livorno. Ponce was invented in Livorno, and the bar is a fascinating experience with football pennants dating back decades to countries that don't even exist any more.

I went a few years ago and had booked the ticket to Pisa as it is closer to Livorno. Ended up landing in Rome and having a 24h layover. It was a great happy accident as I had a great time in Rome. In retrospect visiting Italy and missing Rome would have been really disappointing. So I recommend coming from Rome and spending a day if you have the time/money.
