I appreciate the all the information, you guys. A special thank you to InkEye for linking me to those stickers. I will absolutely put them on my DD Strat! I'll go into more detail later, but I am working hard on becoming a Dick Dale tribute artist. I will say, I am getting a lot of complaints about being excessively loud (police showed up once). I'll talk more about all of this when I create a new thread. —MooreLoud.com - A tribute to Dick Dale. New EP Louder Than Life available on bandcamp and website. I think this could be a relatively easy build depending on the level of detail you want to get into. If you start with an existing Strat, I think the biggest cost would be the gold flake refinish. I think if you go with a scratch build, you may end up in the $2,000-$2,500 USD range. Guitar Mill body + finish, Musikraft neck + MJT finish, decals, and custom guard with decent pickups. Ideally, you should setup the guitar to your playing strengths. Guitar projects are fun. Looking forward to seeing how yours turns out. |

If you're building from scratch another site you might wanna check out is Stratosphere. I think of it kinda like a chop shop for (mostly) Fender guitars. They pretty much buy a bunch of guitars and take em apart to sell the parts. Gotten parts from them for my Strat and a Tele build. Good luck with your build!!! |

I appreciate all of the replies. I guess I should have started a brand new thread for this topic. I believe my question, and the OP's post from a few years ago are getting intertwined. All good. I've always been more of a skimmer than a reader, so I just need to play more attention. Damn ADHD!! |
